ABOUT TELEKINESIS: Widely regarded as one of LA’s best & weirdest stageshows, Telekinesis is a monthly cabaret featuring a rotating cast of the artists, musicians, drag performers, and dancers who define the underground art and nightlife scene in Los Angeles. The brainchild of pop singer and drag superstar JerBer Jones, Telekinesis happens the first Tuesday of every month at Casita del Campo’s Cavern Club Theater in Silverlake. The consistently sold-out shows have a musical-variety format built around a different original narrative theme each month – past themes have included a polygamist family dealing with a rebellious sister-wife and a “March of Dames” telethon to raise money for underprivileged trannies. Tickets and information about upcoming shows can be found at www.robbied.com.

Looking for a stylist to install temporary dreads in the LA area....anyone know someone good?

Hi!

I'm dying to get synthetic dreads installed as soon as school is out in June (I'm a teacher). I will probably want to order them online unless I find someone who I can meet with in person that does killer transitions. I have pretty fine longish blond hair and I want someone who is experienced and can braid the synth dreads in to look good without: A) pulling out much of my hair or B) Giving me perma-migraine

So if you've had a good experience with someone in SoCal please refer me...as I can't find a darn person... Salons or stylists with a website showing photos of their work would be especially appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!!
Female musicians needed for Hard ChiXXX rock band.

Hey all,
I am looking for female musicians, bassist, drummer, and guitarist, that have an exciting live visual element to them (ex. sexy, rocker, goth, punk...) strong playing skills, and the equipment required to play small venues.

The immediate goal is getting this set tight and booking a lot of rock/dive bars and playing out. This is for fun, but there is a level of commitment and professionalism required. No drama. A very visual and exciting stage show will be part of the deal, and I would like to work in fire performers and similar burner talent as I can and where venues allow. Of course outdoor events are proffered when available.

Here are tentative songs for a set list: (ALL VERY HARD, HEAVY, IN YOUR FACE GUITARS VERSIONS) if pop is your style it probably won’t work - the project has a heavy and aggressive sound (we will be doing predominantly 80s pop covers in this style - its a cool sounding project! - very original)

You spin me - Dead or Alive (Orgy version)
Girl U Want - Devo
Take it off - The Donnas
Hazy Shade of Winter - The Bangles
Push It - Salt n Pepa
Call Me - Blondie
Word up - Cameo (Korn version)
I Ran - Flock of Seagulls
Fox on the run - Sweet
What I am - Eddie Brickell
Message in a bottle - Police
Scarborough Faire - Simon and Garfunkal
Seether - Veruca Salt
Cherry Bomb - The Runaways
more to choose from...

Rehearsal would most likely be Sound Arena type studios initially that I would fund. You just need to bring guitars, or drum sticks...

If not your thing cool...please forward to anyone that you know that may be interested and THANKS!!!!!!!!!!

Nightmares of Bunker Hill tour, Saturday June 10

Nightmares of Bunker Hill Crime Bus Tour, noon-5pm. $47 includes snacks, beverages and five-hour luxury coach tour.

The 1947 project presents its newest historic L.A. Crime Bus Tour, the downtown-themed Nightmares of Bunker Hill.

Featuring lively tales from the 1880s to the 1970s, Nightmares of Bunker Hill reveals the weird, old L.A. that's not there anymore and the badly-behaved people who didn't make the city great, but sure made it more interesting.

Crime Bus passengers will tour the old Italian/Mexican district (near modern day Chinatown) and visit the scenes of grisly bar fights, tragic suicides, opium dens and rumored hordes of buried treasure, and discover a mysterious local ghost story that's as elegantly spooky as any in England.

Then it's into the heart of the historic business district, where early Angelenoes go toppling into open sewers, toss bottles of acid at former lovers, torment their dentists, attempt to speak to the dead, find severed limbs in their backyards and spit tobacco juice on the backs of ladies' ball gowns.

For more info, to purchase your ticket via paypal or make other arrangements, please visit http://www.1947project.com

Mark your calendars too for the debut of the Pasadena Confidential tour, July 22.

Long story short...Broke with my live in boyfriend (very hurtful)and
buying a van so I can travel travel & work. I'm looking for
suggestions on where I might find temp jobs and what cities I should
visit? I haven't done a lot of traveling so this is a bit scary and I
would like to try to stick to places that are recommended where I can
work and hopefully meet some new people.

Basic work background
CSR
Admin & Exe Asst

I have a web site (new company) I was operating and have let it slide
a bit since the break up. I'm thinking of someone using it as a
online resume for temp jobs. However i don't want to limit myslf to
something that may be a totaly non office job. I've also working as a
Door Guest Greeter for an occassional Variety Night event.

I have two extra tix for DM in LA (aka Home!) ;)

I'm going to the Tuesday show in LA.
I might--- and I stress *might* have two extra tickets.
Let me know if you're interested in them. Basically two friends of mine are not sure at this point if they can make it. Phooey.
I'll know for certain by Sunday or Monday at the very latest.
Price: I would only ask for what ticketmaster charged me, btw.

Also, are there any DM parties planned before and after the concert?

Finally, send me a PRIVATE MESSAGE with any clues as to where the Boys might be staying/partying in L.A.
("private" because I want to honor the 'online forum code'!) :)

I'd love to meet up with the fellow die-hard devotees!
We'd like to thank everyone for their continued support of our :WUMPSKATE: shenanegans. Both Wednesday and myself (Xian) have just absolutely loved every minute of it. In between the crazy holidays that are coming up see if you can't find the time to join us as we plow through the Los Angelean "winter" with Los Angeles ONLY ALL AGES GOTH/INDUSTRIAL ROLLERSKATING PARTY!!

Over the years, these names have stood out deserving top honors in the realm of support: Michelle (DrunkBat), Elena (MisMonster), Namey, Andrew, Miss Blue, Skye, James, Shok, Michael Coleman, Michael Dannov, Shannon, Tiffany & Krieg of DARKWAER CLOTHING, Jeff Zugale, Andrew over at GROUND CONTROL, Randy of BATPACK CASTING, Lucien of DRUNKROCKERS, and so many more. Your enthusiasm and assistance with spreading the word has been a tremendous help that does not go unrecognized.

And don't forget to thank DJ WEDNESDAY when you see her. I may have the web skills, but this girl has the organization skills and gives me a kick in the ass now and then to get shit done. If it wasn't for Wednesday, :WUMPSKATE: would have never happened (or been named ":WUMPSKATE:" for that matter). :P

Also, we have to thank the venue, THE WORLD ON WHEELS. In three years, we've only been stuck without entry twice, and this most recent experience was for a good cause: WE NOW HAVE WOODEN FLOORS TO SKATE ON!!! That's right, they shut down for two whole weeks and put in a glorious wood floor for our skating pleasure. No more concrete, no more serious bruises or injuries!

NOTE: The venue has requested that persons bringing in their own skates and rollerblades, please, please, please no black wheels or stoppers, and you can't have exposed screws that could rip up the new wood floor. Find ways to cover them!

**********************************************

[2] SHOK DA TURKEY

:WUMPSKATE: is proud to bring the man, the myth, the crazy philly turkey himself, SHOK of FDAALLDAY, NewGrounds.com, Viagra Falls, SillyGoth.com, and Timeless Enterprises on board for the THIRD YEAR IN A ROW for TURKEY SKATE!!! Dropped on the doorstep of Los Angeles around 1999, Shok has gave a bitter scene a reason to smile again with his insane visions and an unstoppable energy (and appetite). Treat him to dinner and you'll have a best friend for life. ;)

Do you need photos or video of an upcoming performance in Los Angeles? Do you need new shots for your website or business card? Hit me up~! :)

I shoot with a Canon Digital EOS 20D camera (8.5 megaPixies) and mail you the finished product within 3-6 days of the shoot, which is a cd of images (both raw and photoshop-altered) as well as a website like this http://www.pixievisionproductions.com/gallery/sashi

My fee is $250 (negotiable) for a two-hour shoot in my Burbank studio ($50 each additional hour). I work on every image in Photoshop, make you a website and give you a cd of raw + altered images with a quick turnaround time... no one does all that for my price~ :)
HARD CHICKS needs female rock musicians

thanks for reading - my name is Greg - more info about me at myspace.com/gregsdesignx

due to lack of communication, lack of experience amongst the girls, and conflicting schedules my band Chicas Duras (HARD CHICKS) dis-banded today - so heres the deal:

I would prefer a female bassist, drummer, and guitarist that have a live visual element to them (ex. sexy, rocker, goth, punk...)and that has the equipment required to play small venues.

The immediate goal is getting this set tight and booking alot of rock/dive bars and playing out. This is for fun, but there is a level of commitment and professionalism required. No drama.

Here is our current set list: (ALL VERY HARD, HEAVY, INDUSTRIALIZED AT TIMES VERSIONS) if pop is your style it probably wont work - the band has a heavy and aggressive sound (we will be doing predominantly 80s pop covers in this style - its a cool sounding project! - very original)

You spin me - Dead or Alive (Orgy version)
Girl U Want - Devo
Zero - Smashing Pumpkins
Candy-o - The Cars
Psycho Killer - Talking Heads
Take it off - The Donnas
Cars - Gary Numan
Hazy Shade of Winter - The Bangles
Push It - Salt n Pepa
Call Me - Blondie
Word up - Cameo (Korn version)
Breed - Nirvana
I Ran - Flock of Seagulls

please forward to anyone that you know that may be interested - THANKS!!!!!!!!!!

I am now accepting character applications for a new multi-genre Mind's Eye Theatre LARP Chronicle that I am going to be running in Claremont, CA starting in May. The Chronicle will be set in Germany starting in 1676 and players will be allowed to play Mortals, Vampires, Changelings, or Garou at the start of the Chronicle. If interested, please write me for further details on character creation and starting date and location of the Chronicle. If I have a sufficient player base, I will also be accepting applications for assistant storytellers and narrators.

We live in bad dream written by George Orwell. The book of prophecy is called 1984. Newspeak slowly becomes the dominant language. The reality of war has been reduced to the sterility of a PG 13 video game. It is now, more than ever, crucial to not resign or dwell in apathy. The army of hopelessness has no pity for its soldiers. The time has come to wake up. Keep passion alive!

Can you feel your deep desire burning,
Are you afraid of your temple of flesh,
Are you afraid to lose your mind in the abyss of ecstasy,
Look around you, are you fulfilled living in this reality,
Is you PC flesh satisfied,
Does your media brain need an upgrade,
Thank you for being a valuable part of the economic food chain,
Every human is a potential threat to our security,
Consume terrorists everywhere,
Sleeper cells that will never awaken, for they've died long ago,
Feed your innermost flame,
Cut open your flesh, inflame your mind, re-open your wounds,
This moment only is true,
Spirit cleansed in pain, burned in pleasure and reborn in blood,

Temple of Flesh set my soul on fire!

Looking for photo studios/locations for artistic nudes

I'm a photographer newly transplanted to LA, looking for an hourly rental photo studio or cool location for artistic nudes and goth/fetish photos. If it has lighting already and/or a backdrop that is a huge plus but not an absolute requirement. I can pay some cash, but I'm having a devil of a time finding a place to shoot. Who would have thought it would be so hard to find a photo studio in LA!?!?

Goth related movie Gypsy 83

For those of you who might care, Gypsy 83 will be showing this weekend (starting Friday) at the Laemmle theaters in Hollywood and Encino. Back in the dark ages when I was in Diva Destruction, we recorded a cover of Stevie Nix's "Talk To Me" for this movie. It has FINALLY been released after almost 3 years of them trying to find a distributor for the movie.

The song we recorded is used during part of a club scene in the move and the song is on the soundtrack CD that was released through Metropolis last year.

The movie stars Sara Rue (Nobody's Perfect, Popular) as a goth chick who along with her friend leave Ohio for New York to find her mother. There is a Steveie Nix related subplot as well but Im not quite sure how it pans out.

ANYWAY... if you are looking for a cute little indie movie to see, give this one a shot. Its not often you see movies with goth kids as the central character. It also stars Karen Black and John Doe (from the band X)

Thank for your time...

Venus Virus is Looking for new Keyboardist

Local LA band is looking for someone to play keyboards. Candidates should have an interest/understanding of bands such as Gary Numan, Dead Can Dance, Cousteau, Siouxsie and/or This Mortal Coil. Must be dedicated, prompt, and eager. These qualities are valued higher then actual keybaord skills. A good ear and ability to learn quickly is also necessary. We have upcoming shows in May. Please email management @ venusvirus.com with your info, so we can set up an audition A.S.A.P.

Heya... I thought it might be a good idea to post what and where people hang on each night of the week. To help people find new places to hang and share good experiences.

Go ahead and post what you do when you go out and on what day. Like

Perversion on Thursdays...
Velvet on Sundays (is this even still open?)
